Eğirdir, a picturesque lakeside town in Isparta, has a rich in history and architecture. Historical buildings include the Hellenistic-era Eğirdir Castle, Ottoman-era stone houses, and Seljuk structures like the Dündar Bey Medrese. The town’s unique character is enhanced by its serene lake, connecting islands, and remnants of Byzantine and Islamic artistry.
Green Shore is situated on the farthest island, where residential buildings are the dominant feature. The project, therefore, aims to meet the needs of local residents, particularly the elderly and children, by incorporating dedicated spaces such as activity rooms for elderly, kindergarten designed for children, a public library to support lifelong learning, a small local museum to preserve and showcase the district’s cultural heritage, auditorium for the local activities, commercial stores to provide everyday necessities and foster community interaction, and restaurants, cafes for encouraging social interaction.

Structural System

Due to the natural elevation difference across the site, the building is partially embedded into the terrain on its southern side, with two of its storeys submerged below ground level. In contrast, the northern façade is fully exposed, revealing all three storeys and opening up to the surrounding views. This sectional relationship allows the structure to integrate with the topography while maximizing visual and physical connectivity on the northern side.

Green Shore’s Structure is composed by shear walls (in the ground floor) and timber frames as the skeleton of the main roof which encloses all the functions underneath.
